Pressure Lubrication Pump
Maximum Protection for Critical Components
Pressure lubrication reduces friction and internal wear by delivering a continuous flow of oil to
each bearing point via a gear oil pump, keeping bearings cool and extending pump life. Each
crankshaft and connecting rod is gun-drilled for precise oil flow, while a spin-on
automotive-style oil filter ensures clean oil for maximum longevity. An analog pressure gauge
allows operators to monitor oil pressure accurately, providing reliable performance and peace of
mind.
100% Cast Iron Pump Features
Many compressors rely on aluminum components, which do not offer the same durability and
rigidity as cast iron. All major components of our compressors are constructed from cast iron,
including:
● Crankcase
● Cylinder heads
● Cylinders
● Connecting rods
● Crankshaft
● High-pressure piston
High Performance
Pressure Lubricated pumps feature a high-performance pressure lubrication system, delivering superior
protection and longevity under demanding conditions. A gear-driven oil pump, mounted to the rear of
the crankshaft, generates positive oil pressure, ensuring consistent lubrication throughout the
system.
Rifle Drilled
All crankshaft and connecting rods are rifle-drilled, allowing direct oil flow to key wear points—
including bearings and other high-friction components. A SPIN ON automotive-style oil filter
provides clean, efficient filtration for optimal performance and simplified maintenance during oil
changes.
Critical Components Coverage
Unlike splash-lubricated systems, pressure lubrication delivers oil precisely where it's needed, reducing friction, wear, and heat—especially in high-stress, continuous-duty environments. This is the most effective method for keeping your compressor running stronger, longer.
Optional Head Unloaders
Head unloaders are ideal for constant-run applications. They relieve the intake valve during
operation, improving pump cooling and reducing overall wear under heavy workloads. This
feature enhances reliability and extends the service life of the compressor in demanding
environments. On our gas-powered compressors, continuous-run head unloaders provide
decompression during engine startup, reducing load on the electric starter and ensuring smoother,
more efficient starts.
Piston Rings
Our pumps utilize a four-ring piston design, featuring precision-engineered overlap rings that
minimize compression loss and significantly reduce oil carryover. This configuration enhances
sealing efficiency, improves overall pump performance, and supports long-term reliability under
demanding operating conditions.
Gaskets
Our pumps feature high-quality, non–oil-absorbent gaskets designed to minimize oil leakage.
This ensures a more reliable seal, reduces maintenance requirements, and contributes to the
long-term efficiency and durability of the pump.

Flywheels 5–25 HP
Our Eaton pumps feature heavy-duty cast iron flywheels designed to maximize energy efficiency and performance. The increased mass generates greater kinetic energy, reducing amp draw and lowering overall energy consumption. Each flywheel is equipped with multiple B-groove belts, providing a larger contact surface area to extend compressor belt life. Additionally, flywheels are engineered with optimized cooling fins to enhance compressor pump cooling capacity.
- 5 HP – 16” flywheel, (2) B-style groove belts, 6 large cooling fins
- 7.5 / 10 HP – 20” flywheel, (2) B-style groove belts, 9 large cooling fins
- 15 / 20 HP – 24” flywheel, (3) B-style groove belts, 6 large cooling fins
- 25 HP – 20” flywheel, (4) B-style groove belts, 9 large cooling fins
Piston and Connecting Rod

-
Cast Iron High-Pressure Pistons
Must be cast iron for long life. Designed to withstand heavy loads, they prevent cylinder scoring and pump failure, unlike aluminum high-pressure pistons used by some competitors.
-
CNC-Machined Solid Cast Iron Connecting Rods
Provide maximum rigidity and strength for long-term reliability. Competitor rods often use aluminum, which is prone to failure.
-
Replaceable Bearing Inserts & Wrist Pins
Allow full rebuildability of the connecting rod assembly, extending pump life. The connecting rods are fully rebuildable and not throw-away, unlike many competitor designs.
-
Low-Pressure Pistons (Two-Stage Pumps)
Made from aluminum for balance and efficiency, as they operate under low stress (~45 PSI).

-
Advanced Piston Rings
We use four rings instead of three, designed to overlap each other: two oil control rings remove excess oil on the downstroke, and two compression rings seal under compression to prevent blow-by. This design maximizes sealing, reduces oil carryover, and extends ring life.
-
Superior Connecting Rod Design
Maintains strength at the rod’s base, preventing catastrophic failure common in aluminum rods. At the crankshaft end—the point where aluminum rods commonly fail—cast iron provides the most reliable long-term performance.
-
Rifle-Drilled Connecting Rod Oil Port
Allows oil to travel through the crankshaft to the rifle-drilled passage in the connecting rod and up to the piston pin and bearing, ensuring continuous lubrication and extended component life.
Disc Valves
-
CNC-Machined Concentric Ring (Disc) Valves
Precision surface-ground for superior sealing, durability, and extended service life. Also known as concentric ring valves, this design is significantly more reliable than feather or fixed reed valves commonly used by competitors. Although more costly to manufacture, disc valves deliver greater longevity and consistent, trouble-free performance. Service is simple and efficient—remove the retainer, lift out the valve for inspection, and reinstall it within minutes. In contrast, reed valve systems require substantially more service time and are more prone to issues.
-
Head Unloader Option
All valves are engineered to support an automatic head unloader system. Head unloaders are only included on fully packaged electric units, while on gas-driven units, the unloader is included on all models. Recommended for electric units operating at 40% or greater duty cycle, head unloaders save energy, improve efficiency, reduce wear, and extend equipment life while protecting the electric motor and magnetic starter by minimizing repeated starting under load. The pilot valve works with a ball valve connected to it; under high duty cycle applications (over 40%), the ball valve can be opened to allow continuous-run operation. On electric units, the unloader works with the pilot valve to unload the compressor at preset pressure, holding the intake valve open to prevent compression while the piston continues cycling. This allows cool air to circulate through the cylinder, dissipating heat and reducing internal temperatures. On gas-powered continuous-run units, the head unloader reduces starting drag, improves ease of starting, lowers fuel consumption, and minimizes engine strain.
Oil Pump
-
Oil Pump Bleeder Valve
Allows for quick and efficient priming of the oil pump.
-
Liquid-Filled Oil Pressure Gauge
Provides clear, accurate oil pressure readings for easy monitoring during operation.
-
Automotive-Style Gear Oil Pump
Designed for reliability, this pump pressurizes the internal crankshaft bearings and the upper connecting rod assembly, delivering oil to critical wear points to improve bearing cooling and extend overall engine and pump life.
-
Adjustable Oil Pump Regulator
Enables precise oil pressure adjustment across varying RPM ranges.
-
Automotive-Style Spin-On Oil Filter
Effectively removes debris and contaminants from the oil, helping extend pump service life.

Cylinder Heads
-
Solid Cast Iron Cylinder Heads
We do not use aluminum cylinder heads due to their tendency to experience head gasket failures, and because most are equipped with reed-style valves that typically result in shorter service life. Our cast iron heads are engineered for maximum durability and extended performance. Tapped holes provide superior strength compared to aluminum heads, while cast iron maintains rigidity under demanding conditions. The disc valve design ensures a secure head gasket seal without the need for retorquing.
-
Precision-Machined Disc Valve Design
Allows for quick valve inspection and simplified maintenance. Recognized as one of the most reliable valve systems in the industry.
-
High-Quality Disc Valves
Designed for easy serviceability, long valve life, and dependable, trouble-free operation.
-
Head Unloaders
Compressors equipped with the head unloader option improve efficiency and extend electric motor life. When maximum tank pressure is reached, the preset pilot valve unloads the compressor, allowing the motor to continue running rather than repeatedly starting and stopping. This reduces amp draw by up to 60% while unloaded and minimizes electrical and mechanical wear. Head unloaders are also used on our gas-powered units to minimize load on the electric start system, increasing starter life and reducing fuel consumption.
Cylinder Construction
-
Cast Iron Cylinders
CNC-machined to maintain overall flatness and precise tolerances. The precision cylinder bore ensures concentricity, reducing oil carryover and supporting long-lasting piston performance.
-
Deep Fin Cooling Fins
Designed to maximize surface area for efficient cylinder cooling, extending pump life under high-duty cycle operation.
-
100% Cast Iron Construction
No aluminum sleeves. Unlike aluminum, cast iron handles high-duty cycle compression efficiently. Many competitors claim cast iron but use aluminum beneath the paint—Eaton pumps are truly all cast iron.
-
Deep-Bored and Threaded Holes
Provide solid head retention and allow proper torque application, ensuring long-term durability of cylinder and head gaskets.
-
Precision-Honed Cylinder Surfaces
Every pump maintains measured cylinder honing, promoting easier break-in, reduced oil carryover, and longer piston ring life.

Motor
These units have name brand OPD (open drip motors) on them, all of which carry a five-year warranty. All of our motors are low RPM (1750 rpm), versus the higher RPM motors (3450 RPM) used on many competitive units. 1750 RPM motors run much cooler than 3450 RPM motors, because of the higher torque factor. They also yield low harmonic distortion, provide much higher torque in cold weather starting and requiring less electricity under start up.
- High quality ball bearings on the front and rear of the motor shaft
- Large starting and running capacitors15 Service Factor load. This means the motor can be pulled 15% over full load for more break horsepower
- Dynamically balanced armature for low vibration levels
Belt Drive | V-Belt Design
Power You Can Rely On
Unlike competitors using narrow, single A-width belts, our compressors feature a multi-belt drive
system with B and C-width belts. This design provides:
● More surface area for better grip
● Reduced belt tension, minimizing strain on motor and compressor bearings
● Lower noise and vibration, extending belt and system life
The result is a durable, efficient, and a low-maintenance drive system built for thousands of hours
of trouble-free use.

This compressor powers three very busy service bays. This thing is massive. Everything about this compressor is overbuilt; a BIG, heavy, brute. Made to last, it’s engineered and built simple, heavy, tough, and reliable. Reminds me of something from 1940s and 50s industrial America. The quality and price cannot be beat, and there is no other choice. Built and shipped from Ohio USA. Look no further than this compressor. YOU WILL NOT FIND A BETTER COMPRESSOR, AND YOU WILL NOT FIND A BETTER PRICE!

OVERALL, UNIT IS MOST EXCELLENT. RECOMMEND YOU GET ONE. A FEW MINOR PROBLEMS, AS THERE ALWAYS IS IN A MAJOR PURCHASE, BUT THEY TOOK CARE OF THEM QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY. IT WENT SO WELL THAT I VERY SHORTLY PURCHASED A DRYER FROM POLAR. ALSO, MOST EXCELLENT. VERY QUIET FOR SUCH UNITS. I DELAYED SUBMISSION OF THIS REVIEW TO GAIN EXPERIENCE AND NOW HAVE SIX MONTHS WITH ZERO PROBLEMS. SO QUIET THE VERY CLOSE NEIGHBORS DO NOT KNOW I HAVE THEM. THESE PEOPLE ARE PROFESSIONAL. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM A MAJOR RETAILER. WHAT LITTLE MONEY YOU MAY SAVE WILL BE OVERCOME QUICKLY BY POOR QUALITY, SHORT LIFE, AND PROBLEMS. DO YOUR GRANDCHILDREN A FAVOR: PURCHASE QUALITY FROM EATON POLAR.

Davion Hill (verified owner) –
Overall a very heavy and beefy unit. It would be difficult to find a 5 HP low RPM 2 stage compressor from anyone else with this quality for this price
Pros:
– good quality
– heavy, cast iron parts
– US, reliable parts list
– very reasonably priced
– It is slightly quieter than the single stage 60 gal 3 hp IR I replaced, (but not by much, see below). The lower frequency noise is also more tolerable than the higher frequency noise my old compressor made.
Cons:
– not as quiet as I hoped.
– Top heavy and weighs almost 600 lbs, extremely difficult to move or load without machinery. Get a gantry crane, or a forklift if you need to lift this. Four big dudes might risk tipping it.
– wiring for the compressor switch was not immediately clear, but was resolved with a Google search for the pressure switch part number

This is my second Eaton 5hp/80g compressor, and is a big improvement over the 2009 model, in a couple of ways. Most importantly, it’s dramatically quieter. Even sitting in the corner of my metal pole barn, with metal walls, it sounds more like a loud fan than a compressor. I highly recommend the Quiet Air technology. Second, and this is a little thing, the pressure switch is set to allow 170psi of tank pressure. My 2009 model came with a 150psi blow-off valve that I never bothered to change. As a result, the new one runs less often than my old one did in intermittent use situations.

This is a great compressor for the price. I did my research and found this to be the best by for the money.
I replaced a 30 year old Ingersall-rand and hope this will last me another 30 years.
Customer service is the best and I got a call from the service department to set up my warranty after my compressor was delivered.
I did upgrade to the pressurized pump on the compressor and it holds 50psi. oil pressure when running. this is a way better system the most oils slung pumps.

Jeff Meyer –
This machine is definitely a quality machine with quiet performance, and I didn’t even get the quiet model in order to save money. I agree with a previous reviewer who said that this machine looks like it came from the 40s or 50s. That is a very positive comment, because things from this time period were built to last, not to be thrown away in 10 years. It looks very industrial. Below is my breakdown of the individual components:
Pump: I think the Shining Star of Eaton compressors is probably the pump. They are pressure lube, which is not found in anything else in this price range. They even include a pressure gauge to show you the oil pressure. Great for telling if your pump is being protected properly and bragging to your friends that they spent more and didn’t get a pressure lube pump. The pump is big and super beefy and I assume it is made in the U.S.A., although it doesn’t say anywhere on it.
Tank: ASME certified and Made in the U.S.A. The condensate drain comes out the side and the 3/4″ ball valve is 1/4 turn and mounted right to the tank.
Motor: 5 HP Westinghouse (brand name) motor with it’s own eye bolt. You know your motor is beefy when it needs its own eye bolt for handling. It is Made in Taiwan unfortunately, but looks industrial.
Belt Guard: Solid steel construction, held in place with Grade 5 hardware and Made in the U.S.A. (Yes the belt guard itself has a Made in the U.S.A. sticker). Plenty stout enough to keep the biggest of fools hands out of your rotating parts.
Pressure switch: In my opinion, easily the worst part on this machine. It is a name brand switch and I believe Made in Germany. I spent hours wiring 3 wires to this switch. The machine has a sticker right on it that says use 6 or 8 AWG wire. I chose 6 AWG wire. This wire does not even come close to fitting into the lugs of this switch. Not even close. I had to cut one strand out of 7 strands out of each hot wire to get it to fit. Then I had to separate the remaining 6 wires into 2 bundles of 3 wires, tightly twist them together and put one bundle on each side of the binding screw. Still a super tight fit that took a lot of finagling. Then, when I was done, the cover did not fit into place because there is zero extra room under the cover. So I had to pull my wires back out, shorten them up so there was zero extra wire and repeat the above process. I have wired entire houses and shops and this thing was an absolute bear to wire. Have you ever tried to bend 6 AWG wire 90 degrees in a 1″ space? You will to wire this machine up and it sucks. I highly recommend keeping the wire run to less than 25 ft. and using 8 AWG wire.
When I was done, I hooked up my blowgun and held her wide open. The compressor kicked on and would gain on it, so that is impressive. My previous Craftsman compressor could not do that.

I purchased November of 2014. Everything about this air compressor is impressive from customer service to delivery to date. She’s a beautiful machine, the focal point of my garage. Reminds me I need to give her a bath, she’s worth it.
I came back as I referred a friend & wanted to send him the info. Figured I’d drop a line & say thanks to Eaton. I do need to order some air filters if you are reading this and can help please email me. Thanks again for everything.
Ethan.

I bought this air compressor to run concrete polishers for our sculpting business and the increase in output has been immense. We no longer have to wait for the tank to refill every 10 minutes, we have continuous air for hours and can run multiple tools. We ordered on a Friday and it was delivered on the Monday, delivery was super quick. I couldn’t recommend this product more. Awesome.

Purchased this 5hp compressor in a 208V 3 phase version with an air dryer and everything showed up as advertised. It seemed a little loud when I first fired it up, but then I realized I had the drain wide open! Once I fixed that hiccup I couldn’t be happier with how quiet this compressor is. Also it has almost NO vibration, so anchoring to the ground will happen EVENTUALLY, it’s nice to not have this thing walking all over the place for the time being.

Purchased 80gal. 5hp 2stage compressor3/10/22 for farm shop to replace an 80 gal coleman that i had for a long time and thinking it was a good high output compressor, Wow was I wrong. This Polar Air is a beast! It is easy to carry on a conversation with the pump running and I didn’t even get the quiet model. The low Rpm is a real plus and puts out plenty of air to run air tools ,fill tractor tires, and high pressure semi tires. Electric motor is a very heavy frame model and looks well made even though it is not made in USA (a real plus that it isn’t made in China as many other compressors are made) The only complaint is the pressure switch which has a limited space for wires and is very hard to connect and get cover back on, but with patience it can be done. Overall a very good purchase.

In the late-80s, the first shop I worked in used Eaton compressors for their air supply system. Part of my job was preventive maintenance on all shop machinery. In all the time I worked there the compressors never, if ever, had any maintenance issues and we never had any pressure issues with the air supply required to run the shop.
When I opened my own shop, the equipment I bought suggested Eaton compressors as the preferred air supply. I hadn’t really thought about it in years, but when I set up my air supply system, I remembered why I was so impressed with Eaton’s compressors. I bought an 80 Gallon 5 HP Piston Polar Air Compressor for my shop. The blasting cabinet I use requires a constant 100 psi and this compressor has no problem keeping that pressure. I know if I start working on a job, I will be able to complete it without having any drop in pressure.
When I was setting up my system, I ran into a few electrical issues. I called Eaton and they walked me through the set-up, and I was up and running in just a few hours. Matt Cain, the owner and President of Eaton, answered the phone. I explained what was going on and he had me look at a few things. I was able to pinpoint the issue and the compressor started up. (The issue was not on the compressor side, but my wiring set up was wrong.) Not only do they have a great product, but great employees who were very helpful when picking out the compressor that I needed. In my business, customer service is key to success; Eaton has great customer service and has earned a customer for life.
Eaton compressors were quality compressors back then and still are today. Eaton makes great compressors and I would recommend Eaton compressors to anyone whether they are just starting out or have had a shop for years.

I ordered my 5HP 80 gal 2 stage compressor on April 27, 2022 and received it July 5, 2022. I was looking for a low RPM motor and pump compressor. Overall I am very impressed. It arrived stoutly packaged with no damage to the packing. I got it in my shop and removed the packing material and unbolted from the pallet and set on floor. I checked all the bolts and fittings and none were under tightened or loose. No damage or scratches to the compressor itself. I checked the pulley and all turned freely. I did a temp hookup and started it. It is super quiet compared to my old Campbell Hausfeld. It seems to have all the power I will need. I got it bolted to the floor on 4″x4″ 1/8″ thick heavy duty anti-vibration pads I purchased from McMaster-Carr. I did my final wiring and started again and it is extremely quite. You can actually have a phone conversation close to it without a problem. The only issue I had was the pressure switch. The lugs to hold the 8 gauge wire seem a bit flimsy and there isn’t a whole lot of room to get the wire bent and clamped down. Took some time but got it done. Wish it was a square-D switch but that’s ok. I will use it to run my media blaster and various air tools. Megan in sales was great to work with and answered all my questions.
