We purchased an Eaton S185 when our older tow behind axial compressor started to become unreliable. We were looking for a compressor that could hold up to heavy agricultural and commercial purposes. We can honestly attest that Eaton knocked it out of the park. It is a strong machine!
The build quality is superb. Extremely heavy metal build with not a piece of plastic on the exterior. The cover can be easily removed, which facilitates accessibility to every major part. One of its best features, to us, was the common sense layout of all serviceable filters and oil on the engine and compressor. It was well thought out and expedited scheduled maintenance.
The controls are simple, yet give you all the information you need. Intuitive startup, operation, and shutdown sequences. Additionally, their support has been phenomenal. We had a few questions and you actually talk to people at the same facility the machine is made. It was a breath of fresh air to not sit on the phone fumbling through menus, automated voices, and long hold times.
Overall, we made the right choice. The machine has the build quality, support, and ease of maintenance that we have come to appreciate. Eaton has won us over for our compressor needs.
The machine has been an absolute beast.
