All air compressors produce condensation (water) without an air dryer in place. Water condensation in your air supply lines can be very frustrating. It can create downtime and cause damage to your Air Tools, CNC Machines, Laser/Plasma Cutting, Paint Booth and many other items that require dry compressed air in the workplace. The added cost of repairs from water damage can far exceed the cost of a new air dryer system over time.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: When shopping for refrigerated air dryers, pay attention to the DEW POINT specifications, when making a comparison. While some of our competitors have dew points of 50 degrees, our refrigerated air dryers have a much lower dew point, at 35 degrees. This is incredibly important and here’s why: our refrigerated air dryers, with a dew point of 35 degrees will remove 47.5% more moisture from the air, at 100% humidity, than a dryer whose dew point is 50 degrees. The lower dew point of our refrigerated air dryers means that our dryers will prolong the life of your equipment, by removing more moisture.
Polar Air dryers are refrigerated dryers that have low electric power consumption, along with low maintenance costs to operate. Polar Air (Arctic Green) refrigerated dryers circulate refrigerant R134A through a non-corrosive aluminum plate heat exchanger. As the hot compressed air enters the heat exchanger of the dryer, it is cooled to a 37/40-degree dew point. The cool refrigerant absorbs the heat from the compressed air. The hot gas refrigerant is then cooled through the condenser with cycling cooling fan. As the compressed air is cooled, the humidity in the air changes its form, from a gas state to condensate (water droplets). These water droplets are then collected in an internal water trap, which is built into the refrigerated air dryer, with a built-in automatic drain valve.
Polar Air dryers come equipped with a built-in inlet pre-filter 5 micron and an active coalescing filter 0.01-micron outlet filter. The inlet pre-filter and outlet filter include a built-in auto-drain. This makes the dryer plug and play. No extra expensive filters to buy and no extra plumbing to worry about. Just run a line from the compressor to the inlet of the dryer and run an airline out of the dryer to your shop. Then add electric power to the dryer and you are ready to use it.

So we are using this unit with a 60cfm 150psi rotary compressor. Air temp coming out of that unit pre-dryer is around 150F when it’s 70F outside. This dryer gets us down to about 37F continuously. Dry ice cleaning is probably the easiest way to find out how much moisture is in your air. Without the dryer we freeze up in about 3 to 5 minutes of use. With the dryer we have no frozen up, even on days where it’s hot and muggy. It does all of this on 115v. And Eaton’s service was far better than some of the big names in compressed air. Having used other brands in the past, I appreciate how easy it is to remove panels to service the unit, as well. Plenty of room inside to change filters and other parts.
