At the core of our Whisper Series Quiet Air Compressors is our sturdy and reliable air compressor pump by Eaton Compressor. These air compressor pumps are exceptionally quiet in operation and engineered to provide years of reliable service.
Our air compressor pumps are engineered with reliability and durability in mind. The crankcase is solid cast iron, ensuring stable crankshaft alignment and the ability to handle a higher workload even under heavy load conditions. Our compressor pumps also feature a precision balanced solid cast iron crankshaft with Timken-Style stainless steel roller bearings on the front and rear of the crankshaft, ensuring smooth & efficient operation with less drag and reduced energy usage
Our air compressor pumps also feature:
- All steel connecting rods with replaceable rod bearing inserts – this allows the air compressor rods to be rebuilt. While many of our competitors use less reliable aluminum rods, that cannot be rebuilt, the ability to rebuild the rods in our compressor will save you money.
- Removable 100% cast iron cylinders – our solid cast iron cylinders are more stable under extreme workloads and do not warp from heat, ensuring years of reliable service. Many lesser quality competitors use aluminum cylinders with a pressed-in sleeve, that can quickly warp and often need to be replaced within 1-2 years. Our solid cast iron cylinders were designed to provide years of dependable service under extreme conditions.
- All cast iron cylinder heads – cast iron cylinder heads are more durable and dependable for trouble free operation.
- Disc valve design intake and exhaust valves – disc valves have been around for over 100 years and have been proven to provide reliable service under extreme conditions. Our disc valves can be easily removed from the top of the cylinder head, where they can be serviced in minutes, instead of hours, like the reed valves often found in lesser quality air compressors.
- Top quality compression and oil rings – our rings ensure performance with low oil carry over (1-5 PPM).
- Precision ground pistons – machined to tight tolerances ensuring low oil carry over.
- Premium non-absorbent gaskets – prevent oil seepage from the pump.
- All cast iron flywheel with built-in fan – the extra weight of our cast iron flywheel during run cycle gives the pump more “throw” on the compression stroke resulting in fewer loads on the electric motor. Many lesser quality air compressors use aluminum flywheels that do not have the proper weight ratio to give the proper throw, on the compression stroke, when the pump is running.
- Built-in head unloaders – these unloaders are built into the intake valve assembly, on the compressor head, and perform a valuable function by unloading or opening the intake valves under constant run applications. This feature reduces internal pump heat from compression, because the intake valve is held open throughout the unloading cycle, allowing fresh air to come into the cylinder chamber. Under the compression stroke, the unloader holds the intake valve open, allowing the air to blow back out the intake filter. This fresh air absorbs the heat from the pump under heavy workloads.
- Built-in inter-cooler and after-coolers – the inter-cooler allows air to be cooled between stages, while the after-cooler provides a second cooling stage, that further cools the air before it goes into the tank. Our after-cooler also includes an all copper main feed line from the pump into the tank.
In summary, not only do we have one of the highest-quality, most durable air compressor pumps in the industry, we can also boast the lowest RPM air compressor pumps on the market. On the majority of our compressors, we purposefully oversize our pumps, running them at lower RPMs than most manufacturers. Our more powerful, low RPM pump can still yield a high CFM output, because both our bore and stroke are larger. The benefit is that our customers get the big CFM output, while enjoying the lower RPM operation, which reduces friction and heat, extending the life of the air compressor pump.
Name Brand Electric Motor
These units have name brand OPD (open drip motors) on them, all of which carry a five-year warranty. All of our motors are low RPM (1750 rpm), versus the higher RPM motors (3450 RPM) used on many competitive units. 1750 RPM motors run much cooler than 3450 RPM motors, because of the higher torque factor. They also yield low harmonic distortion, provide much higher torque in cold weather starting and requiring less electricity under start up.

Controls & Components
Eaton Compressor uses only top-quality, brand-name components on our air compressors, including:
- Top quality pressure switches – including an adjustable screw, which allows you to adjust your pressure higher or lower.
- 100% brass check valves with Teflon seating – All check valves on our compressors are solid brass with a Teflon seating. This reduces tank noise, when the compressor is running, because the Teflon seating is much quieter than other materials and insulates noise when valves are opening and closing, during the compression stage.
- 100% brass ASME safety valves – all safety valves are 100% brass and comply to ASME code. Valves are preset and sealed for correct settings. In the event that your compressor will not turn off, our safety valves open, keeping the compressor from building too high of a pressure level in the tank. This will help to avoid the potential of tank rupture.
- Top quality plumbing fittings – to maintain proper sealing when connected to the tank.
- High quality 100% brass ball valves – used for turning air on and off from the air receiver.
- Extended tank water drain pipe – plumbed out the front of the unit with a ¼” ball valve handle for easy tank draining. This eliminates the hassle of draining the tank with the typical petcock-style drain under the tank.
- Load-less starting – built-in head un-loaders, in the intake valve assembly, unload the pump so it will not start under direct head pressure. This feature prevents damage to the motor during the starting cycle.
Motor Pulley & Belts
We use taper-lock style, 2-groove pulleys, versus single groove. We also use dual, 2-groove, B-Style belts to drive our pumps. This combination is best for a couple of reasons – the dual belts ensure long belt life, and yield low vibration, which makes for smoother, more quiet operation. This is because the dual belts do not have to be as tight as with a single belt setup. The tighter the belts (as with a single belt setup) the more load on the compressor pump, and motor bearings, which decreases the life of both. As well, our taper lock pulleys are much better than a fixed bore pulley with a set screw. A taper lock design will lock the pulley into position, to the motor shaft, allowing it not to loosen or move on the motor shaft.

I just got this unit installed in my home shop and I am glad I bought the whisper quiet version. My space has only one door and the shop acts like a resonating chamber for noise. The air compressor is very quiet. I have no hesitation making a phone call while in the shop. When I am within a foot of the air compressor, I need to talk directly to another person but I do not have to yell. When I run the unit in ‘continuous mode’ with the motor on and the pump essentially not, the noise pattern doesn’t change much which would indicate that most of the noise from the unit is not from the pump.
Initial perceptions on quality are very good. I don’t have a lot of hours on the compressor to validate longevity, but many of the things I found missing on other industrial air compressors are there on this one. I was concerned about the ‘motor’ not being named as to which brand when I bought the unit, but I received a Leeson motor to which I am happy.
Purchase and delivery were as smooth and timely as could be. The compressor is quite impressive flawless powder coat and paint, quality plumbing and then there is the noise level or I should say the lack of noise level.This is the quietest compressor ever,builds air fast and quietly love the machine would recommend it to anyone.

Installation was straight forward but I did have a couple of questions. Called and they were answered answered very quickly. Be prepared and line up some help to remove from pallet and move inside, its not a one person job. Happy with purchase and to support an American Company.

Best deal for the money, and wonderful people too! I had been in the market for a compressor for my shop for a while, my mind was pretty much made up on a competitor’s model until a friend of mine sent me a link to a video of one of the quiet compressors running. I did some looking and found out that they were made a couple of hours away from where I live in Ohio. I decided to make a visit to hear one of these quiet compressors in real life and see for myself. When I got to the showroom I told the lady that greeted me what I was interested in and she said someone would be with me shortly. After a bit of a wait Matt came out to greet us and started describing the features of the Polar Air quiet compressors. I asked him if I could hear one run for myself. He said sure and took me through the factory and described the various processes that we walked past and gave a short history of the company. We got to a final prep area in the factory and they were finishing up a 10 hp model and he turned it on, I was sold, It was amazing how quiet that compressor was. Everyone that I met and worked with through the process was great. Megan was helpful in the ordering process and she answered every question I had. Two weeks later when it was time to pick up the compressor that I ordered, the experience was the same, everyone was more than helpful. Very nice looking and running unit. The only issue I had with hooking it up, was the control box is pretty tight. adding the ground wire to the one to the motor makes it almost impossible to get the screws started back into the backplate for reinstalling the cover. other than that it is a great unit.

The Team at the Englewood facility has a Customer Focus they make sure from start to finish the customers needs are understood and met. I started and finished my purchase with Megan who did a Great job. When I had a few questions she wasnt sure on the answer she had me talk with Matt who I believe is her dad. He answered all of my questions and helped me explore all of the solutions that would work for me. I never felt rushed or like I was taking to much of their time, their focus was getting me a solution Ithat met all of my requirements. Ultimately my goal to eliminate China from anything I buy lead me to the industrial 5hp 80 gallon Ploar Blue with Silencer. Took delivery of my compressor just over a week ago. Delivered well crated and was in perfect shape upon arrival. Very easy to wire up. With the help of a tractor and a very strong friend, got it installed in my shop. I upgraded in order to have a quieter compressor and to keep my neighbors happy. Must say, it exceeded my expectations. Only issue was the switch. Spoke with the tech today (quick response). Recommended a quick rap to the switch with the end of a rubber handled screwdriver to reseat a needle that got out of adjustment during shipping. As promised, took care of the issue. Looking forward to many years of quiet air!
The compressor fits the needs of my garage perfectly. It is installed adjacent to a wall shared with a bedroom. At worst it sounds like a washing machine on spin cycle from the bedroom, and its unnoticeable in the next room over. Quality so far seems great, and like the continuous run feature for my blasting setup that pulls a lot of air. The staff at Polar Air have also been great to work with, were responsive to all my questions and helped accommodate a very specific delivery timing. Thanks!

We purchased 2 compressors at the same time. A five horse single phase with the whisper quiet 80 gallon unit. Which we are using in our home/race shop barn. Our sales rep was incredibly helpful everything shipped much faster than expected. Would suggest this unit to anyone. The specs on these units are incredible and or and are worth the price. Our local dealer came over to give us a quote and looked at the quality of what we were getting from Eaton and said he can’t compete go with them he would! Very happy with this compressor.
We purchased this compressor in October for our first CNC machine and we are very happy with it! We are happy with the added silencer too because our shop is very small. A Youtube channel (NYC CNC) recommended it and we could not be happier with it.
I received my compressor and I have to say the quality of this machine is very impressive. Every single component used is top quality. I wired it up and it really is extremely quiet I am able to stand next to it and have a conversation. Overall very satisfied with my purchase.

I have this compressor in my home shop/barn and am highly impressed. It replaced a much smaller Dewalt that broke and I had to turn in to a “Frankenpressor” to keep it stumbling along. Very loud and low volume of air.

I have had this compressor for a few months now and am very happy with it. I replaced a Dewalt that failed and I had to cobble together a fix to make a “Frankenpressor.” It was loud, and didn’t have much capacity.

I have not been able to use the full capacity of this compressor. I have been able start using my Harbor Freight blasting cabinet. While I am using it, the compressor kicks on, and off, while I am still working.
I am not a “high volume” user, and this compressor may be more than what I need in my home shop, but I am very happy with its performance over the past few months.
(They do offer a “free air tool with review” offer, but as I bought the compressor about four months ago, I am not sure if I am out of the time frame for it, so I leave this review whether I get a free tool or not.)

The documentation was poor. The manual was for a combination of different compressors and the one I bought wasn’t even represented anywhere.
But the tech support was excellent. I got all of my questions answered thoughtfully and the response time was acceptable.
