The BEST Warranty In the Industry
Polar Air, by Eaton Compressor, backs all our piston air compressors with the best warranty in the industry. With our extended warranty, we don’t ask you to buy a service plan, we just ask that you purchase and use our oil and filters. This ensures the correct oil and filters are being used, to keep your piston air compressor running for years to come. We have 3 different extended warranty options to choose from so you can pick what best suits your company’s needs. Make sure to research and ask questions, when comparing warranty information. Be certain, when you buy, that you are getting a full warranty. Our trained service and support team is ready to assist you if you ever need them and we carry a full line of air compressor replacement parts. Our Air Compressor Pump
At the core of our Whisper Series Quiet Air Compressors is our sturdy and reliable air compressor pump by Eaton Compressor. These air compressor pumps are exceptionally quiet in operation and engineered to provide years of reliable service.
Our air compressor pumps are engineered with reliability and durability in mind. The crankcase is solid cast iron, ensuring stable crankshaft alignment and the ability to handle a higher workload even under heavy load conditions. Our compressor pumps also feature a precision balanced solid cast iron crankshaft with Timken-Style stainless steel roller bearings on the front and rear of the crankshaft, ensuring smooth & efficient operation with less drag and reduced energy usage
Our air compressor pumps also feature:
- All steel connecting rods with replaceable rod bearing inserts – this allows the air compressor rods to be rebuilt. While many of our competitors use less reliable aluminum rods, that cannot be rebuilt, the ability to rebuild the rods in our compressor will save you money.
- Removable 100% cast iron cylinders – our solid cast iron cylinders are more stable under extreme workloads and do not warp from heat, ensuring years of reliable service. Many lesser quality competitors use aluminum cylinders with a pressed-in sleeve, that can quickly warp and often need to be replaced within 1-2 years. Our solid cast iron cylinders were designed to provide years of dependable service under extreme conditions.
- All cast iron cylinder heads – cast iron cylinder heads are more durable and dependable for trouble free operation.
- Disc valve design intake and exhaust valves – disc valves have been around for over 100 years and have been proven to provide reliable service under extreme conditions. Our disc valves can be easily removed from the top of the cylinder head, where they can be serviced in minutes, instead of hours, like the reed valves often found in lesser quality air compressors.
- Top quality compression and oil rings – our rings ensure performance with low oil carry over (1-5 PPM).
- Precision ground pistons – machined to tight tolerances ensuring low oil carry over.
- Premium non-absorbent gaskets – prevent oil seepage from the pump.
- All cast iron flywheel with built-in fan – the extra weight of our cast iron flywheel during run cycle gives the pump more “throw” on the compression stroke resulting in fewer loads on the electric motor. Many lesser quality air compressors use aluminum flywheels that do not have the proper weight ratio to give the proper throw, on the compression stroke, when the pump is running.
- Built-in head unloaders – these unloaders are built into the intake valve assembly, on the compressor head, and perform a valuable function by unloading or opening the intake valves under constant run applications. This feature reduces internal pump heat from compression, because the intake valve is held open throughout the unloading cycle, allowing fresh air to come into the cylinder chamber. Under the compression stroke, the unloader holds the intake valve open, allowing the air to blow back out the intake filter. This fresh air absorbs the heat from the pump under heavy workloads.
- Built-in inter-cooler and after-coolers – the inter-cooler allows air to be cooled between stages, while the after-cooler provides a second cooling stage, that further cools the air before it goes into the tank. Our after-cooler also includes an all copper main feed line from the pump into the tank.
In summary, not only do we have one of the highest-quality, most durable air compressor pumps in the industry, we can also boast the lowest RPM air compressor pumps on the market. On the majority of our compressors, we purposefully oversize our pumps, running them at lower RPMs than most manufacturers. Our more powerful, low RPM pump can still yield a high CFM output, because both our bore and stroke are larger. The benefit is that our customers get the big CFM output, while enjoying the lower RPM operation, which reduces friction and heat, extending the life of the air compressor pump.
Name Brand Electric Motor
These units have name brand OPD (open drip motors) on them, all of which carry a five-year warranty. All of our motors are low RPM (1750 rpm), versus the higher RPM motors (3450 RPM) used on many competitive units. 1750 RPM motors run much cooler than 3450 RPM motors, because of the higher torque factor. They also yield low harmonic distortion, provide much higher torque in cold weather starting and requiring less electricity under start up.
Additional Motor Features:
- Large 1-3/8” output shaft
- High quality ball bearings on the front and rear of the motor shaft
- Large starting and running capacitors15 Service Factor load. This means the motor can be pulled 15% over full load for more break horsepower
- Dynamically balanced armature for low vibration levels
Belt Guard
Built with 13 G steel and premium-grade expanded metal, our belt guards are more dependable and reliable than any of our competitors, in addition to providing exceptional safety for our customers. Built in the United States, all of our belt guards are OSHA approved.
Air Tank
All of our air tanks are manufactured in the United States and are ASME code compliant in 50 states, including California.
Controls & Components
Eaton Compressor uses only top-quality, brand-name components on our air compressors, including:
- Top quality pressure switches – including an adjustable screw, which allows you to adjust your pressure higher or lower.
- 100% brass check valves with Teflon seating – All check valves on our compressors are solid brass with a Teflon seating. This reduces tank noise, when the compressor is running, because the Teflon seating is much quieter than other materials and insulates noise when valves are opening and closing, during the compression stage.
- 100% brass ASME safety valves – all safety valves are 100% brass and comply to ASME code. Valves are preset and sealed for correct settings. In the event that your compressor will not turn off, our safety valves open, keeping the compressor from building too high of a pressure level in the tank. This will help to avoid the potential of tank rupture.
- Top quality plumbing fittings – to maintain proper sealing when connected to the tank.
- High quality 100% brass ball valves – used for turning air on and off from the air receiver.
- Extended tank water drain pipe – plumbed out the front of the unit with a ¼” ball valve handle for easy tank draining. This eliminates the hassle of draining the tank with the typical petcock-style drain under the tank.
- Load-less starting – built-in head un-loaders, in the intake valve assembly, unload the pump so it will not start under direct head pressure. This feature prevents damage to the motor during the starting cycle.
Motor Pulley & Belts
We use taper-lock style, 2-groove pulleys, versus single groove. We also use dual, 2-groove, B-Style belts to drive our pumps. This combination is best for a couple of reasons – the dual belts ensure long belt life, and yield low vibration, which makes for smoother, more quiet operation. This is because the dual belts do not have to be as tight as with a single belt setup. The tighter the belts (as with a single belt setup) the more load on the compressor pump, and motor bearings, which decreases the life of both. As well, our taper lock pulleys are much better than a fixed bore pulley with a set screw. A taper lock design will lock the pulley into position, to the motor shaft, allowing it not to loosen or move on the motor shaft.

Just wanted to let you know I appreciate all you help and am very satisfied with the service and merchandise I received. Not many businesses these days treat customers as I found you guys do. Thank you!
This compressor powers three very busy service bays. This thing is massive. Everything about this compressor is overbuilt; a BIG, heavy, brute. Made to last, it’s engineered and built simple, heavy, tough, and reliable. Reminds me of something from 1940s and 50s industrial America. The quality and price cannot be beat, and there is no other choice. Built and shipped from Ohio USA. Look no further than this compressor. YOU WILL NOT FIND A BETTER COMPRESSOR, AND YOU WILL NOT FIND A BETTER PRICE!
Arrived in good condition. Works like a charm!! Highly recommended!
Great compressor. Slow speed compressor, slow speed motor, quality built, reasonable price, great people to deal with.
You as the manufacture should have the Made in USA proudly displayed on the main page. Not burried in the customer comments.
I was pleased to be able to support a local family owned business that provides a great product with very competitive prices. The sales people were great to work with & helped me choose the compressor that best suited the needs for my shop. I will definitely keep them in mind for any future compressor needs.
OVERALL, UNIT IS MOST EXCELLENT. RECOMMEND YOU GET ONE. A FEW MINOR PROBLEMS, AS THERE ALWAYS IS IN A MAJOR PURCHASE, BUT THEY TOOK CARE OF THEM QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY. IT WENT SO WELL THAT I VERY SHORTLY PURCHASED A DRYER FROM POLAR. ALSO, MOST EXCELLENT. VERY QUIET FOR SUCH UNITS. I DELAYED SUBMISSION OF THIS REVIEW TO GAIN EXPERIENCE AND NOW HAVE SIX MONTHS WITH ZERO PROBLEMS. SO QUIET THE VERY CLOSE NEIGHBORS DO NOT KNOW I HAVE THEM. THESE PEOPLE ARE PROFESSIONAL. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM A MAJOR RETAILER. WHAT LITTLE MONEY YOU MAY SAVE WILL BE OVERCOME QUICKLY BY POOR QUALITY, SHORT LIFE, AND PROBLEMS. DO YOUR GRANDCHILDREN A FAVOR: PURCHASE QUALITY FROM EATON POLAR.
Well made compressor . Just as described . Just what I wanted.
Vry good
A+ all the way. Megan was super, very helpful and knowledgeable.
I have my compressor installed and and very happy with this product. Megan in sales helped me get the best option for my needs. At the time of my order the pump was on backorder, so manufacturing and shipping were delayed. Because I knew about it in advance this presented no problem for me.
The entire process from ordering to pick up was top notch. Very nice people to work with.
Great compressor, well packaged for shipping. Very quiet even without the silent air package!
Spoke with a sales person that helped me pick out the model I needed in my price range. Compressor was shipped in a sturdy crate and arrived in great shape.
I have PPE05V080I1 and I have used it to blow off/ clean several pieces of farm equipment and it never ran out of air. Runs great!
Overall a very heavy and beefy unit. It would be difficult to find a 5 HP low RPM 2 stage compressor from anyone else with this quality for this price
Pros:
– good quality
– heavy, cast iron parts
– US, reliable parts list
– very reasonably priced
– It is slightly quieter than the single stage 60 gal 3 hp IR I replaced, (but not by much, see below). The lower frequency noise is also more tolerable than the higher frequency noise my old compressor made.
Cons:
– not as quiet as I hoped.
– Top heavy and weighs almost 600 lbs, extremely difficult to move or load without machinery. Get a gantry crane, or a forklift if you need to lift this. Four big dudes might risk tipping it.
– wiring for the compressor switch was not immediately clear, but was resolved with a Google search for the pressure switch part number
I had a great experience picking up my compressor. The loading team was very helpful especially Jeff. He made sure I was packed and loaded up good and was very friendly.
This is my second Eaton 5hp/80g compressor, and is a big improvement over the 2009 model, in a couple of ways. Most importantly, it’s dramatically quieter. Even sitting in the corner of my metal pole barn, with metal walls, it sounds more like a loud fan than a compressor. I highly recommend the Quiet Air technology. Second, and this is a little thing, the pressure switch is set to allow 170psi of tank pressure. My 2009 model came with a 150psi blow-off valve that I never bothered to change. As a result, the new one runs less often than my old one did in intermittent use situations.
great people, good feedback on order status, ready when they said it would be. Easy to do business with. Compressor works great and is quiet!
This is a great compressor for the price. I did my research and found this to be the best by for the money.
I replaced a 30 year old Ingersall-rand and hope this will last me another 30 years.
Customer service is the best and I got a call from the service department to set up my warranty after my compressor was delivered.
I did upgrade to the pressurized pump on the compressor and it holds 50psi. oil pressure when running. this is a way better system the most oils slung pumps.
I had friend pick-up this compressor, that process was seamless! When the unit arrived at my shop i was even more impressed than I was while shopping for it and communicating with Megan South. There si no doubt this is a quality machine. I have is mounted to my housekeeping pad and will plumb & wire this weekend. I can hardly wait to start compressing air.
The process was very smooth from all aspects starting with placing the order with Megan South to loading the compressor on my trailer with Jeff Jones. The quality and customer service is exactly what I expected from a
This machine is definitely a quality machine with quiet performance, and I didn’t even get the quiet model in order to save money. I agree with a previous reviewer who said that this machine looks like it came from the 40s or 50s. That is a very positive comment, because things from this time period were built to last, not to be thrown away in 10 years. It looks very industrial. Below is my breakdown of the individual components:
Pump: I think the Shining Star of Eaton compressors is probably the pump. They are pressure lube, which is not found in anything else in this price range. They even include a pressure gauge to show you the oil pressure. Great for telling if your pump is being protected properly and bragging to your friends that they spent more and didn’t get a pressure lube pump. The pump is big and super beefy and I assume it is made in the U.S.A., although it doesn’t say anywhere on it.
Tank: ASME certified and Made in the U.S.A. The condensate drain comes out the side and the 3/4″ ball valve is 1/4 turn and mounted right to the tank.
Motor: 5 HP Westinghouse (brand name) motor with it’s own eye bolt. You know your motor is beefy when it needs its own eye bolt for handling. It is Made in Taiwan unfortunately, but looks industrial.
Belt Guard: Solid steel construction, held in place with Grade 5 hardware and Made in the U.S.A. (Yes the belt guard itself has a Made in the U.S.A. sticker). Plenty stout enough to keep the biggest of fools hands out of your rotating parts.
Pressure switch: In my opinion, easily the worst part on this machine. It is a name brand switch and I believe Made in Germany. I spent hours wiring 3 wires to this switch. The machine has a sticker right on it that says use 6 or 8 AWG wire. I chose 6 AWG wire. This wire does not even come close to fitting into the lugs of this switch. Not even close. I had to cut one strand out of 7 strands out of each hot wire to get it to fit. Then I had to separate the remaining 6 wires into 2 bundles of 3 wires, tightly twist them together and put one bundle on each side of the binding screw. Still a super tight fit that took a lot of finagling. Then, when I was done, the cover did not fit into place because there is zero extra room under the cover. So I had to pull my wires back out, shorten them up so there was zero extra wire and repeat the above process. I have wired entire houses and shops and this thing was an absolute bear to wire. Have you ever tried to bend 6 AWG wire 90 degrees in a 1″ space? You will to wire this machine up and it sucks. I highly recommend keeping the wire run to less than 25 ft. and using 8 AWG wire.
When I was done, I hooked up my blowgun and held her wide open. The compressor kicked on and would gain on it, so that is impressive. My previous Craftsman compressor could not do that.
I purchased November of 2014. Everything about this air compressor is impressive from customer service to delivery to date. She’s a beautiful machine, the focal point of my garage. Reminds me I need to give her a bath, she’s worth it.
I came back as I referred a friend & wanted to send him the info. Figured I’d drop a line & say thanks to Eaton. I do need to order some air filters if you are reading this and can help please email me. Thanks again for everything.
Ethan.
I bought this air compressor to run concrete polishers for our sculpting business and the increase in output has been immense. We no longer have to wait for the tank to refill every 10 minutes, we have continuous air for hours and can run multiple tools. We ordered on a Friday and it was delivered on the Monday, delivery was super quick. I couldn’t recommend this product more. Awesome.
Purchased this 5hp compressor in a 208V 3 phase version with an air dryer and everything showed up as advertised. It seemed a little loud when I first fired it up, but then I realized I had the drain wide open! Once I fixed that hiccup I couldn’t be happier with how quiet this compressor is. Also it has almost NO vibration, so anchoring to the ground will happen EVENTUALLY, it’s nice to not have this thing walking all over the place for the time being.
This compressor is awesome ! I am the envy of all of my gearhead buddies !
I finally got my compressor installed and it is awesome ! I am now the envy of all my gear head buddies .
Purchased 80gal. 5hp 2stage compressor3/10/22 for farm shop to replace an 80 gal coleman that i had for a long time and thinking it was a good high output compressor, Wow was I wrong. This Polar Air is a beast! It is easy to carry on a conversation with the pump running and I didn’t even get the quiet model. The low Rpm is a real plus and puts out plenty of air to run air tools ,fill tractor tires, and high pressure semi tires. Electric motor is a very heavy frame model and looks well made even though it is not made in USA (a real plus that it isn’t made in China as many other compressors are made) The only complaint is the pressure switch which has a limited space for wires and is very hard to connect and get cover back on, but with patience it can be done. Overall a very good purchase.
In the late-80s, the first shop I worked in used Eaton compressors for their air supply system. Part of my job was preventive maintenance on all shop machinery. In all the time I worked there the compressors never, if ever, had any maintenance issues and we never had any pressure issues with the air supply required to run the shop.
When I opened my own shop, the equipment I bought suggested Eaton compressors as the preferred air supply. I hadn’t really thought about it in years, but when I set up my air supply system, I remembered why I was so impressed with Eaton’s compressors. I bought an 80 Gallon 5 HP Piston Polar Air Compressor for my shop. The blasting cabinet I use requires a constant 100 psi and this compressor has no problem keeping that pressure. I know if I start working on a job, I will be able to complete it without having any drop in pressure.
When I was setting up my system, I ran into a few electrical issues. I called Eaton and they walked me through the set-up, and I was up and running in just a few hours. Matt Cain, the owner and President of Eaton, answered the phone. I explained what was going on and he had me look at a few things. I was able to pinpoint the issue and the compressor started up. (The issue was not on the compressor side, but my wiring set up was wrong.) Not only do they have a great product, but great employees who were very helpful when picking out the compressor that I needed. In my business, customer service is key to success; Eaton has great customer service and has earned a customer for life.
Eaton compressors were quality compressors back then and still are today. Eaton makes great compressors and I would recommend Eaton compressors to anyone whether they are just starting out or have had a shop for years.
great compressor, lots of air, heavy duty quality construction, very quiet for not being the quiet version, only complaint is very hard to wire with limited space in control switch. needs a little bigger cover. purchased 3/10/22
Purchased the 5HP 80 gal 2 stage compressor for my home shop on 4/27/22. Very impressed with the quality of this unit. Will serve me for a lifetime.
As the saying goes, “buy once, cry once”. It is well worth the extra expense. Best warranty on the market!!
I ordered my 5HP 80 gal 2 stage compressor on April 27, 2022 and received it July 5, 2022. I was looking for a low RPM motor and pump compressor. Overall I am very impressed. It arrived stoutly packaged with no damage to the packing. I got it in my shop and removed the packing material and unbolted from the pallet and set on floor. I checked all the bolts and fittings and none were under tightened or loose. No damage or scratches to the compressor itself. I checked the pulley and all turned freely. I did a temp hookup and started it. It is super quiet compared to my old Campbell Hausfeld. It seems to have all the power I will need. I got it bolted to the floor on 4″x4″ 1/8″ thick heavy duty anti-vibration pads I purchased from McMaster-Carr. I did my final wiring and started again and it is extremely quite. You can actually have a phone conversation close to it without a problem. The only issue I had was the pressure switch. The lugs to hold the 8 gauge wire seem a bit flimsy and there isn’t a whole lot of room to get the wire bent and clamped down. Took some time but got it done. Wish it was a square-D switch but that’s ok. I will use it to run my media blaster and various air tools. Megan in sales was great to work with and answered all my questions.
Compressor looks great. Good quality construction and quality parts.
Thanks,
Travis
Compressor is well built, looks great, and performs as expected. The entire process from answering my questions, ordering, and delivery exceeded all of my expectations.
Received my 80 gallon, 5hp, 2 stage compressor a few weeks ago. This machine is AWESOME! Perfect for my DIY shop. Sales and service have been great. Delivery was easy. Exceeded my expectations over all! Thank you Eaton for a great product.
