The BEST Warranty In the Industry
Polar Air, by Eaton Compressor, backs all our piston air compressors with the best warranty in the industry. With our extended warranty, we don’t ask you to buy a service plan, we just ask that you purchase and use our oil and filters. This ensures the correct oil and filters are being used, to keep your piston air compressor running for years to come. We have 3 different extended warranty options to choose from so you can pick what best suits your company’s needs. Make sure to research and ask questions, when comparing warranty information. Be certain, when you buy, that you are getting a full warranty. Our trained service and support team is ready to assist you if you ever need them and we carry a full line of air compressor replacement parts. One of the Quietest Air Compressors on the Market
A noise-suppression device was first developed, by Polar Air engineers, after feedback from our customers revealed a significant number of complaints, regarding the extreme noise levels of many of our competitors. Engineered and manufactured in the USA, our Whisper Series Quiet Air Compressors reduce stationary compressor DBA ratings by as much as 25%. In an industrial environment, stationary air compressors typically require the added expense of the building or structure to isolate the air compressor and reduce noise in the work environment. The Whisper Series Quiet Air Compressors solves this problem.
The Whisper Series Quiet air Compressors can be installed and operated in any environment, eliminating the need for costly and often inadequate buildings or structures to house the air compressor. Our Whisper Silent Air unit is already installed on the back of the tank, held securely in place with brackets that are fabricated for easy removal and low profile. The Whisper Silent Air Unit dissipates compressor intake noise by channeling the intake air through a series of baffle plates and pre-filters, housed within the silencer cabinet. As a result, the piston intake noise is trapped and dissipated within the silencer structure, significantly reducing noise in the workplace. It also acts as a secondary filtration for cleaner air, which will extend the life of your air compressor.

Our Air Compressor Pump
At the core of our Whisper Series Quiet Air Compressors is our sturdy and reliable air compressor pump by Eaton Compressor. These air compressor pumps are exceptionally quiet in operation and engineered to provide years of reliable service.
Our air compressor pumps are engineered with reliability and durability in mind. The crankcase is solid cast iron, ensuring stable crankshaft alignment and the ability to handle a higher workload even under heavy load conditions. Our compressor pumps also feature a precision balanced solid cast iron crankshaft with Timken-Style stainless steel roller bearings on the front and rear of the crankshaft, ensuring smooth & efficient operation with less drag and reduced energy usage
Our air compressor pumps also feature:
- All steel connecting rods with replaceable rod bearing inserts – this allows the air compressor rods to be rebuilt. While many of our competitors use less reliable aluminum rods, that cannot be rebuilt, the ability to rebuild the rods in our compressor will save you money.
- Removable 100% cast iron cylinders – our solid cast iron cylinders are more stable under extreme workloads and do not warp from heat, ensuring years of reliable service. Many lesser quality competitors use aluminum cylinders with a pressed-in sleeve, that can quickly warp and often need to be replaced within 1-2 years. Our solid cast iron cylinders were designed to provide years of dependable service under extreme conditions.
- All cast iron cylinder heads – cast iron cylinder heads are more durable and dependable for trouble free operation.
- Disc valve design intake and exhaust valves – disc valves have been around for over 100 years and have been proven to provide reliable service under extreme conditions. Our disc valves can be easily removed from the top of the cylinder head, where they can be serviced in minutes, instead of hours, like the reed valves often found in lesser quality air compressors.
- Top quality compression and oil rings – our rings ensure performance with low oil carry over (1-5 PPM).
- Precision ground pistons – machined to tight tolerances ensuring low oil carry over.
- Premium non-absorbent gaskets – prevent oil seepage from the pump.
- All cast iron flywheel with built-in fan – the extra weight of our cast iron flywheel during run cycle gives the pump more “throw” on the compression stroke resulting in fewer loads on the electric motor. Many lesser quality air compressors use aluminum flywheels that do not have the proper weight ratio to give the proper throw, on the compression stroke, when the pump is running.
- Built-in head unloaders – these unloaders are built into the intake valve assembly, on the compressor head, and perform a valuable function by unloading or opening the intake valves under constant run applications. This feature reduces internal pump heat from compression, because the intake valve is held open throughout the unloading cycle, allowing fresh air to come into the cylinder chamber. Under the compression stroke, the unloader holds the intake valve open, allowing the air to blow back out the intake filter. This fresh air absorbs the heat from the pump under heavy workloads.
- Built-in inter-cooler and after-coolers – the inter-cooler allows air to be cooled between stages, while the after-cooler provides a second cooling stage, that further cools the air before it goes into the tank. Our after-cooler also includes an all copper main feed line from the pump into the tank.
In summary, not only do we have one of the highest-quality, most durable air compressor pumps in the industry, we can also boast the lowest RPM air compressor pumps on the market. On the majority of our compressors, we purposefully oversize our pumps, running them at lower RPMs than most manufacturers. Our more powerful, low RPM pump can still yield a high CFM output, because both our bore and stroke are larger. The benefit is that our customers get the big CFM output, while enjoying the lower RPM operation, which reduces friction and heat, extending the life of the air compressor pump.
Name Brand Electric Motor
These units have name brand OPD (open drip motors) on them, all of which carry a five-year warranty. All of our motors are low RPM (1750 rpm), versus the higher RPM motors (3450 RPM) used on many competitive units. 1750 RPM motors run much cooler than 3450 RPM motors, because of the higher torque factor. They also yield low harmonic distortion, provide much higher torque in cold weather starting and requiring less electricity under start up.
Additional Motor Features:
- Large 1-3/8” output shaft
- High quality ball bearings on the front and rear of the motor shaft
- Large starting and running capacitors15 Service Factor load. This means the motor can be pulled 15% over full load for more break horsepower
- Dynamically balanced armature for low vibration levels
Belt Guard
Built with 13 G steel and premium-grade expanded metal, our belt guards are more dependable and reliable than any of our competitors, in addition to providing exceptional safety for our customers. Built in the United States, all of our belt guards are OSHA approved.
Air Tank
All of our air tanks are manufactured in the United States and are ASME code compliant in 50 states, including California.
Controls & Components
Eaton Compressor uses only top-quality, brand-name components on our air compressors, including:
- Top quality pressure switches – including an adjustable screw, which allows you to adjust your pressure higher or lower.
- 100% brass check valves with Teflon seating – All check valves on our compressors are solid brass with a Teflon seating. This reduces tank noise, when the compressor is running, because the Teflon seating is much quieter than other materials and insulates noise when valves are opening and closing, during the compression stage.
- 100% brass ASME safety valves – all safety valves are 100% brass and comply to ASME code. Valves are preset and sealed for correct settings. In the event that your compressor will not turn off, our safety valves open, keeping the compressor from building too high of a pressure level in the tank. This will help to avoid the potential of tank rupture.
- Top quality plumbing fittings – to maintain proper sealing when connected to the tank.
- High quality 100% brass ball valves – used for turning air on and off from the air receiver.
- Extended tank water drain pipe – plumbed out the front of the unit with a ¼” ball valve handle for easy tank draining. This eliminates the hassle of draining the tank with the typical petcock-style drain under the tank.
- Load-less starting – built-in head un-loaders, in the intake valve assembly, unload the pump so it will not start under direct head pressure. This feature prevents damage to the motor during the starting cycle.
Motor Pulley & Belts
We use taper-lock style, 2-groove pulleys, versus single groove. We also use dual, 2-groove, B-Style belts to drive our pumps. This combination is best for a couple of reasons – the dual belts ensure long belt life, and yield low vibration, which makes for smoother, more quiet operation. This is because the dual belts do not have to be as tight as with a single belt setup. The tighter the belts (as with a single belt setup) the more load on the compressor pump, and motor bearings, which decreases the life of both. As well, our taper lock pulleys are much better than a fixed bore pulley with a set screw. A taper lock design will lock the pulley into position, to the motor shaft, allowing it not to loosen or move on the motor shaft.

Amazing compressor. Nice that it comes with all of the ball valves installed. Received in perfect condition and worked at the turn of the switch. Wouldn’t change a thing!
This is one exceptional air compressor. The videos don’t do it justice on how quiet it really is. This thing runs exceptionally smooth and is more than what I could have asked for. Add in the fact that it’s made in the USA and has a stellar warranty behind it, what can be better? Customer service has been exceptional as well. I’m a bit of a newbie when it comes to air compressors and the entire process has been seamless. If you’re shopping around for a new compressor, stop now and buy a Polar Air!
Bought this 5hp 80 gal ind.plus w/silent air. So much quieter than old 5hp vertical diaphragm model. New compressor puts out twice the cfm. Awesome weighs 620 compared to under 100. Great compressor!
Quiet as advertised! I’ve had a lot of compressors of the year. If I added up all of those cheap compressors together, I could have bought a few of these instead! Built to last and built to work. The welds look good, piping is spot on, motor and pump just work. Even the belt cage is well built. If I ever need another compressors (read that as upgrade in capabilities because my shop has grown) I will definitely return to Eaton Compressor!
I got my new compressor hooked up this weekend.
Wow! Very impressed with how quiet it is.
Seems to be very well built.
Actually had a conversation within several feet of it while running. That would’ve never happened with my old Sanborn.
Thanks for building a quality product.
Worth the money!
This is my second Eaton 5hp/80g compressor, and is a big improvement over the 2009 model, in a couple of ways. Most importantly, it’s dramatically quieter. Even sitting in the corner of my metal pole barn, with metal walls, it sounds more like a loud fan than a compressor. I highly recommend the Quiet Air technology. Second, and this is a little thing, the pressure switch is set to allow 170psi of tank pressure. My 2009 model came with a 150psi blow-off valve that I never bothered to change. As a result, the new one runs less often than my old one did in intermittent use situations.
These are great compressors for the money.
I bought this one since it is super quiet and literally beats any compressor on the market. I received and installed it today and man this thing is quiet. I was standing right next to it talking with my buddy and we both could not believe how quiet and well built it is. Great company great products that are built to last! Thanks again for making a high quality product made in the USA!!!!!!!!
I bought this to use for my automotive needs and this thing is a beast! Far exceeded my expectations. The whole dealing with Eaton Compressors was a breeze and very nice to work with. Great customer service 5/5! Love supporting a USA made product.
As others have stated, this thing is QUIET!! I have an old single stage 30 gallon Craftsman and it will wake the dead. I finally got power hooked up yesterday and fired it up. Both the electrician and I were amazed. Yes, it’s heavy. Getting it off of the pallet was a trick. The unit is very well built and did I mention it was quiet? This is likely the last compressor I’ll ever need to buy but if I had to again, I wouldn’t mind as the purchasing process was very smooth. I spoke with their sales and tech support people a couple of times before I made my purchase and every time they were extremely helpful. Highly recommend this unit and Eaton as a company.
Second Eaton compressor and I’m impressed by how well they stand behind their product. The quiet air technology is really something to marvel at. Never had a compressor this quiet before!
Compressor is well built and very quiet for an 80 gallon compressor. Custom service was very helpful with choosing the correct compressor for my application.
From sales to support to function my experience with this compressor has been great. I was able to work out a great price with sales and when I ran into issues installing my unit, tech support helped me get everything working great. The reps even provided me with info on great local companies to install and support my compressor in the future. I have had my compressor for several months now and one of the main reasons I purchased this unit was because its quiet capabilities compared to other compressors. I have not received one noise complaint and you can barely hear it with the garage closed. Further more, the machine keeps up with all of my needs for my small business: vapor blasting, sand blasting, and cerakoting.
Quiet giant! This thing is built like a tank, amazing build quality. It is as tall as I am and heavy,, packed well and arrived in perfect condition.. This is really quiet, my old compressor was a 2hp that could almost wake the dead, my shop is behind my house and you could hear the old compressor kick on over the TV in the house. This compressor is so quiet that all of the doors and windows of the house and shop can be open and you don’t hear it run. The only complaint would be the switch box cover. It is very tight making wiring a bit difficult.
It is more compressor than I need, but happy to have it.
Have a blast using this compressor. From sales to shipping and operation the whole process has been smooth. The actual compressor runs great and I have not had any issues with the unit whatsoever. It has been able to keep up with all of my needs from sandblasting to using cut off wheels. Did have some issues getting the continuous run feature set up, as Eaton claimed they did not have the copper tubing to support the continuous run option on this compressor and told us we needed to get the tubing from the hardware store and make the bends ourselves. This process was frustrating, but the compressor itself is smooth, quiet and we really enjoy using it. Great purchase!
The build quality on this compressor is amazing. It’s heavy, tough, and built to last a long time. As a DIY’er, probably a lifetime. Although it’s not “silent”, it’s quieter than most running vehicles. You can carry on a conversation when it’s running. Fills quickly and is ready to go in minutes.
Customer service is very good. It wasn’t possible to get it delivered quickly, but the reps were honest and the compressor arrived within about a week of when they said it would. When it arrived without the impact wrench I ordered with it, they sent it out quickly and without question.
I would recommend this compressor to any small professional shop or serious DIY.
This is my second Eaton piston driven compressor to own. My first was a 10 HP that i had in my auto paint shop. My second is a 5HP for my house. These compressors are the cats meow. i call them the Mercedes of compressors. There is no warranty and technical support that can compare with Eaton Compressors. I will pay more to get more, Best compressors i have used in 30 yrs of auto paint business. Tks Michael.
This is the second Eaton piston compressor i have owned. the first was a 10 HP for my auto paint shop. The second is for my house. i now have a 5HP Quiet air 80 Gallon. These compressors are the cats meow. i call them the mercedes benz of compressors. They have built a great product with a outstanding warranty. I would not ever buy any other compressor.
First I’d like to bring up the advantages of owning this compressor and will end up commenting on the disadvantage of purchasing this compressor.
It’s quiet, and has good cfm. To be truth-full It’s massive wide and I feel it would be better designed if they mounted the muffler on the side of the compressor. This would make it at least 12 inches more narrow. As it is I can’t get my car in the garage, so I would need to remove the muffler and weld a bracket on the tank to mount it or mount it on the wall above the compressor if space allows. So be beware if you have limited space
I tried to contact Eaton, Through email I had an electrical question and it was not answered. I went to their website to use ‘Chat with us’ and customer support was a disappointment. Only a ‘Hello’ and the chat was ignored. I will be sending a screen shot to show how long I had to wait before I gave up.
I have a question. Why Polar Air sends this out without a cord?? I went to our local HD and even the electrician said they should never of sent this out without a cord. I have the 5 hp silent air and it did not come with a cord! I see they recommend 8 gauge wire from the electrical source, which I have but I looked at the wire from the switch to the motor, it has 10 gauge wire. So 10 gauge cord is all I can find anywhere.
Another disadvantage is they send this out without any documentation or manual. They did put a sticker on the compressor to go on line and try to find the manual on their website. I had to search google to find the manual and it had no ‘before you get started’ section on it. I could not find out how to wire the switch. Only by going to Google was I able to find that information. This is not helpful.
The compressor itself has been great so far, I got it hooked up this weekend and am currently waiting for the air drier I ordered to arrive before I use the compressor for the first time.
Here is my assessment so far and I plan to update my review once I use the compressor for a few months:
Pros:
– It is the quietest compressor I have ever heard
– The warranty is the best I have found from the research I have done
– It comes pretty plug and play, there is not much setup other than the wiring
Cons:
– The ordering process/waiting for the compressor/delivery of the compressor was a bit of a dumpster fire.
– I ordered the compressor over the phone and had to give them my bank info in order to make the order without having to pay crazy fees
– I was not told that in order to get the warranty as it is advertised in the description you have to order all the filters and oil as part of a warranty plan, which wasn’t
a big deal or that expensive I just thought it was kinda crappy that this wasn’t mentioned before hand or during the ordering process
– I was told that the warranty department would contact me within a few days after ordering but they did not contact me for at least a month after I ordered it (I had
to wait over a month to get the compressor which wasn’t a big deal because I knew parts would be hard to get because of COVID
– When it got closer to the delivery date I was not informed that it would be delivered soon, there were really no updates, just got a text from the shipping company
they use that said it had been shipped and they gave me a shipping window of an entire week that it might be delivered, I then had to call the shipping company
to get a better idea of the day the compressor would be delivered
– When I went to hook up the compressor it was a bit of a challenge because they require 8 gauge wire (if the wiring is less than 50ft long, otherwise they require
thicker wire) but the housing that covers the pressure switch that gets wired is very small and I really couldn’t get it to go back on correctly after I wired it
because the wiring is thick which was pretty annoying
– Eaton specifies that you have to change the filters and oil every so many hours but they charge extra to send you an hour meter, the wiring diagram they send
you with the hour meter is terrible, it took me a few tries before I got it wired correctly, and the compressor does not have a good place to mount the hour meter
Overall I would still recommend buying this compressor, from what I have read it is the best value for what you get and the warranty is pretty great especially since from my research I have found that the quality of Ingersoll Rand products has gone down quite a bit since they stared licensing others to make their products.
This compressor is a beast, I paired it with their 30cfm air dryer for my auto shop and its indoors and nice and quiet. My only complaint is the pressure switch box, its nice that they put plugs in the slots you don’t use to make wiring simple, but its very difficult working #8 wire inside that tiny plastic box and getting it closed. With a compressor this fantastic can you not get a larger cover? no way I am the only person thinking this. I also bolted this compressor to a slab on rubber compressor feet and its really working nicely.
A quick review on my recently purchased 5 horsepower 80 gallon quiet air compressor. Cudos, first of all, to everyone involved! When I ordered the compressor, I was Megan told me it was on back order, and Eaton kept their word and shipped it out on the promised date. The compressor arrived crated very well with zero damage. I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but upon getting the compressor wired and started up, it was unbelievably quiet; more-so than I anticipated! On top of all this, it builds air very quickly. I look forward to many years of service out of it.
The Eaton 5 HP Quiet Air Compressor, Single Phase, Inline, with 80 Gallon Tank is an amazing piece of equipment. Build to last using solid, rugged components, I’m sure this compressor will last me a lifetime for my hobbyist auto restoration projects. The compressor is so quiet that I can have a phone conversation standing right next to it! The compressor is very heavy (over 600lbs) and presents some challenges getting it off the pallet as it is top heavy. I used the arms from my two-post auto lift to raise the compressor off the ground so I could get the pallet detached, then set the compressor down on two moving treads to (carefully) spot it into place. Once in place, it took me little time to get it wired up and started for the first time. It completely filled the 80 gallon tank in just a few minutes. The high cfm rating for this compressor should adequately run my compressed air tools (cut-off, grinders, angle grinders, impact wrench, and bead blast cabinet) which all require a lot of air to run. I’m very pleased with this compressor and am glad that it comes with a five year warranty. As others have mentioned, there was some disappointment that the compressor didn’t come with a power cord and getting the requisite wiring inside the switch cover box was a bit of a challenge. But all in all, this is a very solid product.
Ordered this Compressor wait time was 2 months. But I was aware of this and wasn’t a problem. Arrived at shipper A+
This thing is built like a tank. Glad I waited for it. Meghan & Sam were Great to work with. Arrived missing pads for feet. Meghan had them to me very quickly. Compressor is Quite and Im very Happy with my purchase. Would Definitely work with these people again. Thanks Y’all
Unit is quiet and way better than the old one we had and more efficient. Have not had it that long, but what have would recommend this product to others.
We are extremely happy with our 5 horsepower Quiet Air Compressor. It is remarkably quiet, smooth and efficient, easily keeping up with all of our tools and air-powered equipment. This is the 7th or 8th compressor that we’ve owned since the late 1970s and it is by any measure the best quality overall. And the fact that it’s made in the USA means a great deal to us!
Unit shipped right when Eaton stated it would. The shipment arrived well packaged. Compressor was very easy to setup and get running, instructions were very clear. The unit runs beautifully so far. Much more quite than a 3hp brand x unit it replaced and has a much better cfm output. The noise difference is substantial. Eaton unit is much quieter than my old compressor and makes my shop much more pleasant to be in while the compressor is running.
Thanks for the great warranty support! Thank you Matt personally for all of the help!
The compressor is quiet even surprised some customers how quite it is. Excellent customer service. A great purchase.
